How to Prepare Your Leaves for Collection

To help our crews work efficiently and safely, please follow these guidelines:

  • Pile leaves on the street surface near the gutter or road edge, or at the edge of the road if there is no gutter.
  • Keep ditches and street grates clear of leaves.
  • Keep leaf piles away from mailboxes, trashcans, and parked vehicles.
  • Do not place leaves on city sidewalks.
  • Do not put leaves in plastic bags.
  • Pile leaves so they do not block bike lanes or traffic lanes.
  • Debris such as branches, rocks, metal, lawn clippings, or bagged leaves will not be picked up. All debris must be removed by the property owner.
  • Crews will not complete personal property clean-up beyond leaf collection.
  • Leaf pick-up may take up to five business days depending on weather; if it rains, crews will resume service the next business day.

Resident Responsibilities

To ensure a smooth collection process:

  • Rake leaves to the curb or road edge before the pickup dates in your area.
  • Avoid placing vehicles in front of leaf piles—equipment must be able to reach the leaves.
  • Clear gutters and drainage areas of leaves.
  • Monitor local media or city updates for service adjustments during the season.
