What Is E-911?

The Campbellsville–Taylor County E-911 Communications Center serves as the first point of contact in emergencies across our community. When residents need immediate assistance, trained E-911 telecommunicators answer the call and coordinate a fast, appropriate response.

E-911 connects callers to police, fire, emergency medical services, rescue teams, and other essential public safety partners throughout Campbellsville and Taylor County.

Emergency Call Handling & Dispatch

E-911 telecommunicators are responsible for receiving emergency calls and dispatching the appropriate response agencies, including:

  • Police and law enforcement

  • Fire and rescue services

  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

  • City and county rescue teams

  • Emergency management and public works support

Emergency Alerts & Public Safety Notifications

CodeRED Emergency Notifications

The E-911 Center also helps keep residents informed during emergencies through CodeRED, a community notification system used to share important alerts such as:

  • Severe weather warnings

  • Environmental or public safety hazards

  • Criminal or safety alerts

  • Missing person or child alerts

  • Location-specific emergency information

Landline numbers are automatically included in the system. Residents may also choose to add mobile numbers or opt out through the CodeRED system.

When to Call 911

Call 911 for Emergencies Only

Call 911 immediately if you are experiencing an emergency involving:

  • Immediate danger to life or property

  • Medical emergencies

  • Fires or hazardous situations

  • Crimes in progress

When you call 911, be prepared to provide:

  • The type of emergency

  • The exact location of the incident

  • Your name and phone number

Stay on the line until the telecommunicator has all the information needed to respond.

When Not to Call 911

Use Non-Emergency Options for Routine Issues

Please do not call 911 for non-emergency situations such as:

  • Road or traffic updates

  • Power outages

  • Animal complaints

  • Prank calls

  • Vehicle lockouts (unless a child is inside)

Keeping 911 lines open ensures emergency help is available when it’s truly needed.

The E-911 Center is staffed by highly trained telecommunicators who undergo extensive background screening, specialized training, and certification through the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training.

The center operates continuously, with systems and backup power in place to remain functional during severe weather or power outages.
