What the Street Department Does

Department Responsibilities

The Street Department oversees a wide range of public works and maintenance services, including:

  • Snow and ice removal during winter weather

  • Pothole repair and asphalt maintenance

  • Concrete work and sidewalk repairs

  • Drainage and erosion control projects

  • Right-of-way drainage maintenance

  • Street sweeping and litter abatement

  • Street lighting support and signage programs

  • Right-of-way mowing and vegetation management

The department also operates and maintains heavy equipment and assists with additional Public Works functions as needed, including flood control support, arbor care, irrigation systems, and alley or landscape strip maintenance.
